The seventh season of the popular series The Game of Thrones will be shot in two of the most stunning beauty spots along the Basque coast – the tiny island of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, near Bermeo, and Itzurun, close to Zumaia.
According to Zumaia’s mayor, Oier Korta “This is an event which will have direct repercussions on the town’s economy, in retail, restaurants and hotels and possibly in the creation of new jobs,” he says. “The benefits are significant.”
Tourism officials in the Basque Country hoped that showing off the local attractions in the series, which is broadcast around the world, will attract more tourists to the area.
The shooting will start at the end of September and will last aproximately one week.
